Gone Floatin'

This past weekend David and I took a much needed getaway. We went on our annual float trip with the guys from BCFD Station 5. It was a blast! We headed down to Eminence MO on Friday and floated on Saturday and came home Sunday. We got to upgrade from tents to cabins this year! The cabins were nice but the beds not so much. We sank into the middle of the bed but on the upside we had the AC in our room so we were cool all night long. So funny story....half way through the float David tells me that he lost his wedding ring! You might be wondering if I was mad but not really (that might have been because I was a little intoxicated by this point). So we looked around a little bit in the river but no luck. It was gone. And really its okay. Its all part of life and we just gotta keep on going. So the solution is to buy a "cheap" ring and then once we can afford a new "nice" one we buy a new one. So lesson learned...next year keep the ring at the campsite! All in all it was a great weekend. We go to spend time with you friends from Columbia and we learned a great life lesson.

On Sunday when we got back we headed to my mom and dad's to celebrated my mom's birthday. We had pizza with her, Dad, Jordan, Aunt Tina, and Grandma and Grandpa. A nice family dinner....NOT! I have recently came to the conclusion that my family is crazy! Every time I see them is something new with them. Grandma is always trying to pawn something off on me or my mom. See Grandma is moving for the first time 42 years and now has to downsize. So rather than just giving her stuff away to Goodwill she wants to give it to us. We don't want it!!!! There is no nice way to tell her that though. On top of my grandma moving Davids mom and dad are cleaning out his grandparents house so there's more stuff that people keep trying to give us. I don't want hand-me-downs! I know free is good but I have all I need. And if I don't have it I don't need it. Plus I have no room for anything else! I say rather than giving me stuff just buy me a house. That way I can fill my house with all their stuff! Oh well. I guess I should just be thankful that people are thinking of me and wanting to help me.

Aside from all of the above I started my new job. I worked one day last week. It was okay. Its basically setting up the afternoon break out sessions for the afternoon conferences then waiting for them to be done and breaking the food down once they are done. Its easy. I'll be training next week still. I work three days and I'll reevaluate the job again after those three days.

That's all for now. Later gators!

Lifes a waiting game

So life has been a waiting game the past week. I was offered a job at the Doubletree in Chesterfield as a conference sever and I ACCEPTED!! But now I have not idea when I am going to start! They called me THREE weeks ago! They checked with my references, sent me for a drug test, did a criminal background check, and still nothing! Its Tuesday people! Come on! Time is money....especially when you have no money but A LOT of time. So here I am still waiting.

While I have been waiting I finished up watching my little brother Jordan while he waited for school to start back up. He is in 4th grade now! Its crazy how fast he is grown up. So I was spending my days with him but now I'm at home again trying to keep busy.

Lets see what else....We were house sitting two weeks ago for some family friends. It went well. Holly the dog was a little crazy okay A LOT crazy! But we love love her anyway. We got to take their boat out and see all the fancy house on the lake that are way outta my price range! David and Jordan did some fishing. And other than that we just hung out at the house. Which btw had a zillion door leading to the outside! CREEPY! But so peaceful out on the lake at the same time.

Oh we went to my uncle's 70th birthday party this past Sunday. It was great. Got to see all my mom's family and have delicious birthday cake! Here's what I learned Sunday...old people are RUDE! They barked orders, pushed you out of the way, wanted to know your whole life story, were cranky and wanted to correct everything you were doing wrong...well what they thought was wrong! It was so ridiculous. It truly makes me never want to get old. I should mention that it wasn't my uncle who was rude, it was all the old people that live at the retirement home with him. All in all good to spend time with family.

Also this weekend we attended our first wedding since ours. It was nice to be the guest again rather than the bride. It was an outdoor wedding too...my first. It was so nice! The only thing the Pastor had to talk over was the airplanes taking off from the small airport near by. It made for great memories :)

Lastly in all this waiting I heard about another job. My mom's boss Linda has a niece who is looking for an assistant. The niece is the GM at a hotel in St. Charles. I sent her my resume and I'm waiting to hear back from her. Hopefully I hear back from her soon. This job could be more full time and include benefits which I am not getting either at the Doubletree. So we'll see. I'll keep you posted.

Guess that's it for now...I'm heading back to the waiting room I guess.

Just a few things...

Had a great weekend! David and I are house sitting in Lake St Louis in a huge house! Just the two of us, the dog, cat, fish and hamster! We have a great view of the lake and access to the boat. Its like a vacation but we still have to work!

My interview on Friday with Doubletree went really well. The job I interviewed for was for a conference server. As a conference server I would watch over the break out areas for the different conferences going on. I would tend to them, making sure they were stocked with food and drink. It would be a great way to get my foot in the door at a great hotel! I am praying hard for this one!

Speaking of praying I heard a great sermon on pray today at Morning Star! It was amazing! David and I attend with my parents and his parents. We all really enjoyed the service. David and I have decided to start attending Morning Star on a regular basis.

Ohh! I almost forgot. I cooked for the in-laws for the first time on Friday night! It went great. I made chicken, broccoli, and rice casserole along with a chocolate cake with butter cream icing. All was great! We also had a wonderful game of Yahtzee. It was a wonderful evening for all!

Any who just a little update on how the weekend was. Till next time :)
